Recently, Iggy has been spending a lot of time on our bed. Brian is home during the days now and sets up a basking area and even her humidifier. She only moves to eat and goes right back and plops down under her Mega Ray. Around 5:30p we turn off the light and she is ready for bed. The last two nights she has slept in our bed for a few hours until I move her back home to her enclosure. She looks like a little iguana angel, it's just so cute.
Last night I went in our room after we got back from the store and she was curled up halfway inside of a blanket. Both her arms were back and I quickly thought "Is there a way for me to sleep next to her?" ha ha. It's so wonderful that a lizard can be such a wonderful companion, just as a loyal dog or sweet cat can be.
This was taken early morning 3 days ago, check out that weird position while eating ha ha
We've become really paranoid about salmonella, should we be? Do you jump up and clean everyting she touches, or is it not as big a concern as people make it out to be?
ReplyDeleteI was SUPER concerned with it last year. I'd say "NO iguanas on the couch" or "NO iguanas in the kitchen" It is a real concern to think about but chances are you're going to get salmonella from a food item and not your iguana. Being that I've had Iggy for so long now I know she is healthy and clean- I bought Nutribac from ReptileUV and throw it in her food once in a while, too.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more paranoia than anything but since Petrie is young I'd still do cleaning up and be aware, but ehh... my opinion- don't go crazy. :)
