Fluid Filled Spike?

Monday, October 18, 2010
After Iggy's bath I took her out and wrapped her in a towel. I was standing near the window with the sun coming in, shining directly on her. I noticed something really weird catch my eye on her spike. When I looked closer it appeared that two of her spikes, one more than the other, were transparent looking with a nearly lime green fluid inside. This sounds really scary and it definitely looks pretty weird, too. I touched them to see if she flinched, but she didn't seem to notice. I might be wrong about the "fluid" part but the transparency gives it that feel. Not sure!

I looked at the other one which appears to be getting a bit of it, too. I noticed a darker spot near the greener area which reminds me of a burn. My theory is that they started out as burns and are possibly now infected? Not sure how that would happen though because the green is inside with nothing leaking out. There is no breakage of the spike or anything, either.

Here are the pictures :(

Her spikes are so beautiful and long. I really hope everything is okay. I am going to consult some of my go-to-iguana owners and see what is going on. I hope a trip to the vet isn't in the future but I am scared that the possibly infection appears beneath the spike.
