Weather Changes, Drafty Houses and Iguanas

Thursday, October 7, 2010
It seems that in one quick week our 90 degree summer has come to a stop. Recently, we have had rainy, dreary 60 degree days. The nights have been in the 50's and we are just not used to it! Even when we lived in Chicago, our 7th floor apartment was so darn hot in the winter. We rarely ever had to use heat lamps at night for Iggy there! Now we live in a ranch house which is very drafty and cold. Luckily, the room that Iggy is in is sandwiched between 3 other rooms so it is easy to keep it warm (unlike our own bedroom which is ALWAYS cold!!).

I was going to buy a bunch of new bulbs for her but they are expensive and just don't last. She still has her normal bulbs, UVB and even her MegaRay which is probably just good for heat (it's over a year old so UVB has probably dissipated). I am just going to use a room heater to make sure it stays room temperature in here, which helps her and me, too when I am hanging out in this room.

Other than that, she's been doing good. Shedding normally, eating like a pig and still sweet and calm. She has been holding in her poop lately, I think she is too lazy to walk down the ramps and use her potty herself. She was doing really well with it earlier but I have to take her out and tub her, which leaves me with a huge disgusting iguana poop I have to clean up. Yuck!
